Dr. Conor Hanley - Chief Executive Officer
With over 12 years experience of technology
commercialisation, Conor is responsible for BiancaMed's strategy and execution.
Formerly with Ntera, a consumer electronics technology
company, Conor led up their global technology licensing program with as well
as setting up their consumer electronics distribution network in North America.
Prior to Ntera, Conor was with Air Products & Chemicals in charge of their
alternative energy business development in Europe for hydrogen and fuel cells.
Conor holds a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
from University College Dublin, and obtained a Newman scholarship from National
University of Ireland. He holds a doctorate from University of Pennsylvania
and received a full university fellowship. In addition, Conor has an MBA from
INSEAD, France where he was a co-winner of their business plan competition
and was awarded a Sainsbury scholarship from the Royal Academy of Engineers.
Dr. Philip de Chazal - Chief Technical Officer
With 15 years of directing and delivering on ground-breaking biomedical
software solutions, Philip is responsible for BiancaMed's software technology,
engineering, and intellectual property strategy. His recent successes include
the development and commercialisation of unique software that provides sleep
apnoea detection from heart rate information.
Philip most recently served as senior researcher at University
College Dublin where he developed and extensively published biomedical algorithms.
Earlier he headed the technical group at MedCare, Australia, where he was responsible
for overseeing the software development for a suite of home-health monitoring
equipment for the elderly. This equipment has since been deployed in many hundreds
of homes in the UK and Australia. Prior to this he worked for CSIRO, Australia,
as a researcher in medical ultrasound and developed the first real-time software
for the automatic tracking of blood vessels in ultrasound images.
Philip holds a Master's degree in biomedical engineering
and a PhD in electrical engineering from University of New South Wales, Australia.
He is an internationally recognized leader in biomedical pattern recognition
(including IEEE conferences, regularly cited journal publications, and book
chapters) and a named inventor on five patent and patent applications. He has
won international awards for his work on sleep apnoea detection and heart arrhythmia
analysis.
Prof. Conor Heneghan - Chief Scientific Officer
A pioneer in the field of transferring health technology from the hospital
to the home, Conor is a technology visionary and strategic inventor with over
15 years of expertise in biomedical engineering, high-performance communications
and signal processing. Conor is responsible for BiancaMed's clinical and wellness
outreach, electronic systems architectures, and intellectual property strategy.
Conor was most recently a faculty member in University
College Dublin's School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering,
where he played a leading role in that university's signal processing research
group. Prior to that, he served as the first Director of Telemedicine at The
New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he pioneered the concept of remote tele-endoscopy
in head and neck cancer screening, and automated glaucoma screening. Conor also
worked with Boston University's Biomedical Engineering Department on determining
fundamental limits in the area of neural signal processing.
He has been the holder of a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship
at Stanford University, and has successfully graduated over fifteen doctoral
and masters students.
Conor holds a PhD in electrical engineering from
Columbia University, and has published extensively in the fields of biomedical
engineering and signal processing (e.g., IEEE Transactions, Sleep, Annals of
Biomedical Engineering, and contributed book chapters). He is an inventor or
co-inventor on six patents, and a co-founder of BiancaMed.
